Family of Schools
Wharton is a member of the Little Hulton and Walkden Family of Schools, a group of schools whose purpose is improving the provision and outcomes for all pupils across the 9 primaries involved.
The Family of Schools is made up of Wharton, Peel Hall, Bridgewater, St. Edmund’s, Hilton Lane, St. Andrew’s, St. Paul’s Peel, North Walkden and St. Paul’s Heathside Grove. The Governing Bodies of each school have committed to the Family of Schools, and to working together on projects to develop identified areas of provision.
In the school year 2011-2012 Wharton were involved in groups working to improve teaching and learning for more able pupils in maths, in developing Early Years provision and improving guided reading. The Headteachers have worked together to share and develop ideas for the Leadership of Learning.
In 2012-2013 we have identified the following as areas for development across the Family of Schools:
- Continuous provision and objective-led planning in the Foundation Stage
- Challenge for more able writers and challenge for more able mathematicians
Teachers from each year group will have the opportunity to meet over the year to share good practice and ideas.
