Year Six's Week - 4.10.19

Published 4.10.19

We have been creating some wonderfully tense, atmospheric writing in English lessons using the mysterious 'Whitby's Abbey' clip from Literacy Shed. We all had very interesting ideas about what that ship was actually doing and what lay inside the ancient building. Maths has proven very tricky this week as we embarked on long division! At the start of the week, there were some very puzzled faces but by today, we are all smiling and feeling much more confident with this new calculation strategy! Well done Year 6! Elsewhere, we have been discussing what guided reading means to us and how we can help each other, started writing reports about the heart and its amazing work inside our bodies and had lots of competitive fun with Mrs Carr in P.E.! The week ended with our second group of climbers visiting the 'Awesome Walls' in Stockport - I can't wait to hear all about it on Monday. Also, well done to Leo for being September's raffle winner - he had a great time at Clifton Country Park on Tuesday!

The children have spellings to learn and a reading task for next Friday. I will be sending home Parents Eve appointment times on Monday so if you have not requested a time slot, please do so.

Next week, we have two exciting visitors to look forward to. Firstly, science showman Adrian Bowden will be entertaining us with his amazing electricity session (don't forget your Marble Runs for him to judge!) and on Friday we welcome back 'The Pop Project'!

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
