Year Six's Week - 15.11.19
Published 15.11.19
We started the week by showing our respect during our school's Remembrance Day assembly, before analysing the beautifully emotive poem 'Flanders Field' and creating our own commemorative poppies and poems. The children were all superb and spoke with real maturity about this topic. We then discovered the amazing bravery of one animal in WWI - Stubby the dog! He was an American hero and we became him to write from his perspective. Again, the children's work has been wonderful to read. In maths, we have started learning more about fractions, building upon previous years. Some has been very tricky but we have not given up! We have also been dancing in P.E., creating an artistic historical timeline of WWII and discovering new facts about sugar in science. Our proudest moment of the week was completing (and winning) the first 'Race to 200' of the year. Our time of 8 minutes was very impressive...but we know we'll improve even more next week! We were all extremely competitive!
Thank you for all of your kind donations towards Children in Need :)
Next week, we have some special visitors in school. As part of our whole-school 'Africa' theme, we have invited some guests to show their African drumming skills! Year 6 will experience this on Thursday - we can't wait!
The children have spellings and some maths homework to be completed by next Friday.
Have a great weekend everyone.
