Year Six's Week - 22.11.19

Published 22.11.19

The whole school has been exploring the continent of Africa this week. In Year 6, we have created superb, informative biographies of Nelson Mandela and during our afternoons we found out lots of facts about the countries that make up this amazing place, ready to present to Year 2. On Friday, we began to create some beautiful art - creating the map of Africa using the flags of all of the countries. The work produced has been wonderful. Then we all had a very enjoyable hour with our special visitor, who showcased his African drumming skills and allowed us all to try it! It was great fun!

Lots of tricky maths has been learned this week, including adding and subtracting fractions and converting answers from improper fractions to mixed numbers. It was tough for most but the resilience of the children was excellent.

Also, once again, Year 6 were crowned 'Race to 200' champions, improving last week's time by over 1 minute! Amazing! They worked so well as a team and I was very proud of their commitment.

There are spellings to learn, a grammar review to be completed by next Friday and an optional extra research task was also given out, all about the Sahara Desert.

Have a lovely weekend everyone:)
