Nursery 2026 - 2027
Mrs Toolan
Welcome to our Wharton Nursery!
Meet the team:
Support Staff: Miss Emma, Miss Joanne, Miss Stacy and Miss Debbie
Here at Wharton Primary School, we are proud to offer a nurturing Nursery that provides children with the opportunity to play, learn, and grow in a stimulating and caring environment.
Our approach follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which focuses on developing essential learning skills such as listening, speaking and attention through a play based approach.
We also place great emphasis on building strong foundations in communication, literacy, and numeracy, helping our children prepare confidently for their transition into Reception.
Throughout their time in Nursery, children enjoy a rich and varied curriculum that encourages them to:
• Explore the world around them
• Express their ideas creatively
• Build friendships and work together
• Practise and refine new skills through play
At our Nursery, every child is valued as an individual. We believe that learning through play fosters curiosity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning
Supersonic phonics
The children will take part in daily phonic lessons in small groups. The children will be learning lot's of new sounds. This term we will be learning all about environmental sounds. We will be taking the children on walks in and around the school to help develop their sound listening skills.
PE
PE will take place on a Thursday morning for our Nursery children. They do not need to get changed into a PE kit.
PE will start in the Autmun 2 term.
