Several years ago we set up a walking group, Wharton Wanderers. We started off with a couple of walks on Rivington and over the six walks we did, got more ambitious as they got longer and more demanding. Our last couple of walks were Lose Hill and Scout Head in the Peak District.
The children who took part thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and sense of achievement.
We are delighted that we are able to continue our ‘wanderings’ this year and are looking for new recruits.
The walks will take place on Sundays over the course of the year. The walks are planned and led by instructors who have Mountain Leadership and First Aid qualifications. Miss Wylie and Miss Fielding will be on each of the walks. The cost of each day is £5.00 – this includes transport (pick up & drop off at school), instructors, insurance and access to any equipment needed.
